Made K. Bendesa
1974 Was born in Singaraja Bali.
2000 Started using acrylic paint on canvas.
2001 Started using oil paint on canvas.
As long as I can remember I have always expressed
my self visually.
I live in Bali, a landscape dominated by strong
light and shadows and bright primary colors.
As an intuitive painter, I focus on the energy
of line and forms as they define space and movement within the picture
plane. I am obsessed with dynamic form and the evocative potential
of color.
I have developed a personnel style or vision, and
a painting technique over time my fast work is constantly altered
by the immediate present. I have experimented with various means
of applying the acrylic & oil paint on the canvas surface -
hand, brushes, rollers, spraying, scraping, and dripping.
My subject matter does no pre-exist. It emerges
out of my interaction with the paint medium. The often extravagant
imagery is rooted in my personnel psychology. That is way and only
how my work can be created and why its conclusion cannot be predetermined.
A trip to Australia five years ago allowed me to
see many examples of western abstract art for the first time. Confronting
a painting is different to seeing it reproduced in a book and a
magazine. This experience has encouraged me to continue my process
of self - discovery.
A journey that will continue.
I opened my own gallery, THE KEBATH STUDIO on the
9th July 2002. The gallery will house a permanent exhibition of
my current painting.
