The Yak. The fingers behide the brush.
May 2004.

The Kebath studio, at the top of Jl. Lasmana, is one worthy of such a visit.

Made k. bendesa opened his studio two years ago so that he could be hands-on in the showing of his works; he has his own style and his own ideas. The style is Modern Abstract with an Asian influence, acrylics and oils on canvas; it is just as Bali is, evolving all the time.

His clients are definitely foreign in flavour or foreign in taste. He recognizes that local art with local with local motifs is still a strong contender in the art market but there is a demand for a more modern approach, and therefore a more updated outlook is developing – modern design art. His exhibitions have been presented locally at the Bali Hyatt Hotel; gallery cemara in Jakarta; and internationally in KUDATA gallery London. Singapore is at present enjoying his vision and in line with Kebath Studio’s second anniversary, Made will be exhibiting at his Studio in July.

Here in Bali, purveyors of his paintings have been the plethora of the new villas that follow clean and modern lines, the Ahimsa in Seminyak, Villa Danoya in Batu bellig, Villa Mahayani in Canggu, The Avatara in Tanah Lot to name a few.

It’s Made’s philosophy that attract; his approach to artis smple . “ I try to play with light and feeling, the combination of colour for depth or movements within these combinations.”
